Business Simulation Activities
Drop your team into business scenarios that feel real — choices have consequences, rival strategies collide, and what people learn carries straight back to their desks. These simulations turn abstract business thinking into something your team can feel, remember and act on.
What business simulations develop
- ♟️Strategic thinkingInside simulated markets, teams allocate resources and stake out positions while the clock keeps ticking against them.
- 🤝Negotiation & collaborationBecause personal wins hinge on shared results, these scenarios expose exactly how a team weighs competing against working together.
- 📊Data-driven decision makingPeople practise reading the signals, weighing the trade-offs and committing to a call even when the picture is far from complete.
- 🔁Systems thinkingGuided debriefs tie what happened in the game back to genuine business behaviour, so the insight outlasts the session itself.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Business Simulations with The Thought Bulb
What are business simulation activities?
They are structured, hands-on exercises that place people inside lifelike business situations — resource-allocation games, negotiation challenges, auction-driven strategy games and cross-team rivalries. Where a classroom case study is read about, a simulation is lived: participants make live decisions that carry real consequences, and that immediacy makes the learning transfer straight into how they behave at work. The Thought Bulb's simulations are run by seasoned L&D professionals who debrief after each round to link the experience to genuine business principles.
What business simulations does The Thought Bulb offer?
There are three flagship titles in our catalogue. Lost Dutchman Goldmine is a resource-strategy and collaboration game in which teams must decide whether to compete or cooperate to grow the collective haul. The Ripple Effect is a systems-thinking simulation that shows how one person's or one team's choices ripple outward across an entire organisation. And the Market Auction Simulation is a fast, high-energy bidding and portfolio game that mirrors investment strategy, risk judgement and team decision-making with the pressure switched on.
How many participants can join a business simulation?
They run for anywhere from 15 to 500 people. Each one is organised around sub-teams, so even a large crowd gets the full decision-making experience, with rivalry and cooperation between teams baked into the design. A smaller group of 15 to 50 usually goes deeper on strategy, while a larger 100-to-500 format layers in extra complexity through many competing teams and combined, organisation-wide results.
Are business simulations suitable for senior leadership teams?
Very much so — they work especially well for senior and mid-senior groups. The scenarios are built to bring out the real strategic and interpersonal patterns that show up in leadership: how a team weighs its own interest against the wider good, how it communicates when things are unclear, and how it adjusts once the original plan stops working. For experienced professionals, the structured debrief after each round is where the richest learning lands.
Which cities in Southeast Asia do you offer business simulations?
We run them in every major Southeast Asian city — Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Johor Bahru among them — and we will travel to offsite and resort venues for leadership retreats too. Each simulation is fully self-contained: we supply all the materials and the facilitation.
